Easy Apple Cake Recipe
This easy apple cake needs no creaming of fats and sugar, or careful blending of eggs and flour. Like many all-in-one cakes or dump cake recipes the ingredients are mixed in a saucepan and simply transferred to a cake tin for baking. If you like the flavour of apple with a little cinnamon give this easy apple cake a try. It's a lovely moist apple cake with a crispy sweet crust and looks really wholesome - nothing like a synthetic, factory baked apple cake bought from a local supermarket!
Easy Apple Cake
Ingredients
4 oz...120 g butter or soft margarine 8 oz...240g caster sugar 8 oz...240g self raising flour 2 medium eggs 3 apples, cored, peeled and thinly sliced Sugar and cinnamon for dusting
One 9 inch/225 mm cake tin, greased and lined with waxed paper or baking parchment.
Preheat the oven to 375 deg F, 190 deg C, Gas Mark 5.
Melt the butter, or margarine, and sugar together in a large saucepan over a gentle heat.
Allow to cool slightly before adding the flour and eggs. Mix well together to ensure all the ingredients are thoroughly blended.
Transfer half the batter into the greased and lined tin. Arrange the apple slices in a layer on top, and then carefully add the rest of the batter.
Dust with sugar and cinnamon before placing in the preheated oven for about one hour.
Near the end of the baking time check to see if the cake is cooked by inserting a skewer or similar into the centre of the cake. It will come out clean when the cake is ready.
Place on a wire rack for a about five minutes to cool before carefully turning out onto the rack to cool completely.
Enjoy any time of day with a refreshing cup of tea or coffee.
